⚖️ AI receptionist for law firms

The firm that answers first signs the client.

Legal intake is decided in minutes. Someone who just had a wreck, got served, or was fired is calling three firms, and the one that picks up gets the consultation. GoodLine answers every call, runs your intake script, screens for conflicts and jurisdiction, and books the calendar.

GoodLineThank you for calling *Business Name*. I can take some details and get you in with an attorney — what's happened?
CallerI was rear-ended at a light two days ago, I'm in a neck brace and the other driver's insurer keeps calling me.
GoodLineI'd hold off talking to their insurer until you've spoken with an attorney. Was a police report filed, and have you been treated at a hospital or clinic?
CallerYes, report was filed, I went to the ER that night. I'm in Cook County.

Why law firms lose calls

Three reasons your phone rings out

Prospects call three firms and hire the first answer

Legal intake has almost no loyalty before the first conversation. Voicemail in that window doesn't delay the client — it loses them entirely.

You're in court when the phone rings

Hearings, depositions, and client meetings are exactly when new matters call. Nobody in the building can pick up, and the caller is not leaving a message.

Most callers aren't your case

Wrong practice area, wrong state, outside the statute, or just looking for free advice. Sorting them takes a paralegal's whole morning.

The script

What it asks before anything gets booked

Built from how a law firm actually triages a call — not a generic "name and number" form. You approve every question and every rule before it goes live.

Qualifying questions
  • What happened, and what date did it happen?
  • Which county and state are you in?
  • Have you spoken with or hired another attorney?
  • Was there a police report, and have you been treated?
  • Has anyone from an insurer contacted you?
Rings your cell immediately
  • Arrest, custody, or a hearing inside 48 hours
  • A statute of limitations date within days
  • A restraining order or emergency custody matter

How it works

Three steps. You keep your number.

1

Forward the calls you miss

One short code dialled on your phone sends busy, no-answer, and unreachable calls to GoodLine instead of voicemail. Your number and caller ID don't change.

About 2 minutes
2

We build your script

A 20-minute call covers your service area, hours, pricing rules, what counts as an emergency, and where jobs get booked. You listen to test calls and tell us what to change.

Done for you
3

It answers around the clock

Every missed call gets picked up, triaged, and booked — with a text summary, recording, and transcript sent to you, and emergencies escalated to your cell.

What are your missed calls worth?

Pre-filled with typical numbers for a law firm. Change them to yours — your call log will tell you the first one.

After hours, on a job, already on another line.
Typical for a law firm — set it to your own average.
Your close rate on the inbound calls you do pick up.
Some missed calls are spam or wrong numbers. Keep this conservative.

Questions

What law firms ask us

Will it give legal advice?
No, and the script is written to make that impossible rather than unlikely. It gathers facts, states plainly that it isn't an attorney and can't advise, and books time with someone who can. Practical protective statements — don't speak to the other insurer yet — are only said if your firm writes them in.
How does it handle conflicts of interest?
It collects the names of adverse parties as part of intake and checks them against a conflicts list you maintain. On a possible hit it stops, takes no further detail, and flags it for a human to clear before anything is booked.
Is what callers tell it confidential?
Intake calls are handled as confidential: encrypted in transit and at rest, access restricted, retention set by you. Worth being precise, though — an intake conversation with a non-lawyer doesn't automatically create privilege, so we script the disclosure your bar rules expect and you should have your ethics counsel review the intake language before launch.
Can it screen out cases we don't take?
That's most of the value. Practice area, jurisdiction, date of the incident against your statute, minimum case criteria, whether they're already represented — anything you can state as a rule, it applies, and unqualified callers get a courteous referral instead of your intake team's morning.

More general questions — pricing, setup, contracts — are answered on the main FAQ.
